A Narrative Graphic Organizer is a great place to start when preparing for any creative writing activity. It allows students to brainstorm ideas, organize their thoughts, and create an outline before beginning the actual writing process. Students should also have access to a list of transitional words and sentence stems to help strengthen their writing skills as they compose their narratives.

Pair Share is another great way to support student learning during this activity. Use it to facilitate thoughtful conversations between two students as they discuss their stories before sharing them with the group.

You’ll find all these supports and more within the St. Patrick’s Day Narrative Writing Craft Activity.

Once narratives are complete (or at least close!), a Writing Checklist is a helpful tool that can guide students through the editing and revision process by providing them with guidelines on what makes strong narrative writing.
